The
standard Elisa Blood Test is used around the world as the
most popular test to detect antibodies for HIV. The test depends
on your own body making antibodies for the HIV virus and looks
for these types antibodies.
It
normally takes people 4 - 12 weeks to make enough antibodies
to test positive for the HIV virus and have developed an HIV
infection.
50%
of people who will be positive convert after two months and
95% convert after 3 months.
Not
all positive tests mean that the person has HIV. Other causes
for a positive Elisa test are arthritis, auto immune disease
or allergy to a person's own antibodies.
In
order to confirm a positive HIV finding, a second test called
a Western Blot test is done automatically at no additional
cost. This tested antibodies for specific parts of the HIV
virus particle like its outside coat, its inside coat and
its core.
If
you have a positive test, you need to see a physician to determine
if the test is correct and be evaluated for treatment. With
existing treatment modes, HIV has usually become a chronic
illness, not unlike diabetes.
Alternatively,
you may want to take the newest and most sensitive test for
HIV Virus at eHIVtest.com. It is called the PCR HIV Test.
The PCR HIV test along with the
standard Elisa tests costs $295 and is the best way to detect
an early infection.
